TV aerials Empty TV aerials

The lack of reception from the communal TV aerial came up at the AGM yesterday. Apparently some adjustments are going to made to the existing aerial on Tuesday next week, so fingers crossed that will have some effect.

At the moment, using Freeview, we can't BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC News, Channel 5, CBBC, Fiver, Five US. This seems to correspond to multiplex 1 and multiplex A (so Guy tells me - have a look at http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/dtt_channels.html).

How does this compare to others?

It does seem odd that it is being considered that the loss of reception to Christchurch Estate can be a result of the newbuild of The London Hospital. Situated only 100-150 yards from Christchurch Square in Gore Road at the end of the terrace farthest from Christchurch reception is fine and unaffected. I do think that more attention should be paid to resiting the aerial serving Christchurch before more costly options are pursued. Hope it sorts out soon for you.

The aerial for this road's "block" of houses is on my roof in Robinson Road, and I must say that the reception on all Sky channels is perfect. Maybe we are a bit luckier over here! Very Happy

The communal aerial on the Christchurch Estate is working!!!!!! Hurrah!!! Sara from Lamberts had said that they were going to try moving it's position today, and it seems to have worked. Hopefully the bill for the work will be picked up by the developers of the Royal London Hospital extension, as part of their section 106 agreement.

Sara Izzard's letter of 24 October is wildly optimistic. We still have no reception on any analogue or digital freeview channel. We have asked her if she can arrange an engineer to visit us to see if we are unique for some reason or if we have an unrelated problem. If, however, she has had lots of people telling her they still face problems, she can get the Crown moving to back her up.
So our experience is that a freeview box isn't the answer and residents will be badly served if they dash off to spend their own money on something that doesn't seem to solve a problem that is none of their own making.
The Crown does seem to have rather washed its hands of this and sub-contracted out the responsibility as well as the work to Lamberts. Perhaps this is just one of the teething pains of the move to an off-site managerial presence or, more worryingly, it could be a harbinger of things to come.
